Mike’s KARS Inc. is an independent, family owned and operated auto repair shop in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We have been providing full-service automotive repair and auto maintenance services to the Gettysburg community, including Biglerville, Ortanna and Arendtsville since 1980. Staff members of the surrounding schools including the Gettysburg Area School District, HACC and the Gettysburg College also take advantage of our free 30-point inspections and our courtesy shuttle. Our customers’ complete satisfaction has always been our main priority!

We have four spacious service bays equipped with above ground electronic lifts, which means we can accommodate any passenger vehicle, light-duty truck or trailer. We are also a Napa AutoCare Center, and our ASE Certified technicians utilize state-of-the-art technology and diagnostic equipment to properly diagnose and repair your vehicle. Michael & Shelle Bennett – Owners

Mike & Shelle have owned Mike’s KARS since 1999, purchasing the business from Shelle’s parents, who started the business in 1981. Today, they have expanded the business and are well respected within the business and surrounding communities.

Mike is an ASE Certified Master Technician, with more than 23 years of experience in the automotive service industry. He also holds a certification as an Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1) and is a Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic. Mike also serves as a consultant for the Automotive Training Institute located in Linthicum, Maryland.

Shelle earned an Associate’s Degree from Central Penn College in Specialized Business. Now the general manager of Mike’s KARS, she brings a varied business background to the company. She spent 4 years working in the legal field and 10 years at the Gettysburg Hospital. This experience has served her well when she took over the helm at Mike’s KARS.

Mike and Shelle believe and support continuing education for themselves and their staff. They continue to take and have completed many training programs provided by Automotive Training Institute and Management Success.

Mike and Shelle have been married for 28 years and have 2 daughters Jessica and Nikki and a son-in-law, Travis. Shelle loves spending time at home and attending her daughter’s field hockey games at West Chester University. She is also very passionate about supporting animal rescue organizations including the Sato Project. Mike enjoys building projects and restoring WWII jeeps with his Dad.



Denise Kreiger – Service Manager

Denise has a wealth of knowledge and experience in automotive service. As an employee of Mike’s KARS since 2004, she has also achieved an ASE certification. Denise holds many other certifications through the Automotive Training Institute and just recently was invited to attend the Master Class of Service Managers.

Denise is married to her husband Anthony and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Denise enjoys designing jewelry and has her jewelry featured in local boutiques.



Anthony Kreiger – Service Technician

Anthony came to Mike’s KARS in 2009 bringing with him over 23 years as a service technician.

Married to Denise, Anthony has 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Playing pool is one of Anthony’s favorite pastimes.

Certifications: ASE Certified Master Automotive Technician (A1-A8), ASE Certified Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic, Pennsylvania State Certified Emissions Repair Technician. NAPA Technician Training. MACS Air Conditioning Certification.



Joey Arnold – Service Technician

Joey has over 12 years of experience with Mike’s KARS and brings this smile with him every day to work.

Joey has been married to his wife Dessylyn for nearly 10 years and has 1 child, Sophia. Joey has a great appreciation for the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

Certifications: ASE certified Auto Maintenance and Light Repair Technician and Undercar Specialist. Also ASE certified in automotive brake systems, engine repair, suspension and steering, electronic systems, and exhaust systems. Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic. Over 25 classes with NAPA Training Center. MACS Air Conditioning Certification.



Shaun Scott – Service Technician

Shaun grew up on a family farm where he learned how to fix and maintain vehicles. A graduate of Universal Technical Institute, he has been with Mike’s KARS for over 5 years.

Shaun enjoys the single life and in his spare time he snow boards, hunts and enjoys riding 4-wheelers and motorcycles.

Certifications: ASE certifications in suspension and steering and brakes. Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic, MACS Air Conditioning Certification. Over 25 classes with NAPA Technician Training.



Marty Shindledecker – Service Consultant

Kerm Shindledecker – Service Technician

Marty and her husband Kerm founded Kerm’s Auto Repair Service in 1980. Here she served as bookkeeper, service advisor and parts manager.

Later in 1999 their daughter and son-in-law Shelle and Mike Bennett bought the business which is now Mike’s KARS. Marty continues to work in the business as a service consultant.

Kerm now retired, served the automotive industry for over 40 years. He is still as busy as ever, building race cars, race motors and street rods. His daughter, Shelle, still coaxes him back, on occasion, to help in the shop. Kerm’s past certifications include ASE Master Automotive and Heavy Duty Truck technician, Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic.

Kerm and Marty have been married for 52 years and have two daughters, Shelle and Dee and two granddaughters. Marty and Kerm both enjoy drag racing.

Certifications: Over 40 years in the Automotive industry, Past certifications as an ASE Master Automotive and Heavy Duty Truck technician, Pennsylvania State Safety Inspection Mechanic.
